73rd anniversary of diplomatic ties: China hails Pakistan’s firm support to One-China Principle

Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has reiterated China’s unwavering support to Pakistan’s sovereignty and hailed Pakistan’s firm support to the One-China Principle.

Speaking as chief guest at a function organised by CGTN URDU to mark 73rd anniversary of establishment of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong urged the United States to earnestly abide by its commitments of not using Taiwan as a tool to contain China, and stop violating the One-China principle. He said all such efforts to contain China are destined to fail.

The ambassador said the that the leaders of many countries, including Pakistan, and officials of international organizations have recently raised their voices to uphold the One-China principle, which shows that adherence to the One-China principle is in line with public aspirations and the international community agrees on this.

“Against the backdrop of turbulent international situations and continuously declining world economy, we are ready to provide new opportunities for world development with new achievements of Chinese modernisation,” the ambassador said.

Jiang Zaidong said that under the strategic guidance of our leaders, the iron-clad friendship between China and Pakistan stood the test of times. He said the bilateral relationship has become as solid as rock and as heavy as mountain.

“Under the past 73 years, out all-weather friendship has increasingly been transformed into pragmatic cooperation, injecting inexhaustible impetus into the building of the community with a shared future,” he added.

The ambassador said China is ready to work with the Pakistani side to implement the consensus reached by leaders of both countries, promote China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership to a new level and achieve new results, and truly benefit both countries and the two peoples.

“We are ready to further promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation with the Pakistani side, implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI), Global Security Initiative (GSI) and the Global Civilisation Initiative (GCI), and make positive contributions to building an equal and orderly multipolar world as well as a universally beneficial an inclusive economic globalisation,” he added.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong appreciated the efforts of Ms. Du Jianing, Director China Media Group, for organising the event and said more such events should be organised to enhance people-to-people contacts between the two nations.

Pakistan’s former ambassador to China Naghmana Hashmi in her speech said the destinies of the two nations are linked, and friendship resides in their hearts.

Ambassador Naghmana Hashmi said the successive leaderships of both the countries have nourished this all-weather friendship well, which is going from strength to strength with each passing day.

“This relationship goes only in one direction, and that is upwards,” she added.

Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment Hassan Daud Butt said on the occasion that Pak-China relationship is an enduring constant with China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) at its core.

Hassan Daud Butt said Pakistan is destined to achieve great progress due to its important strategic location and proximity with China.

“There are no strings attached when we speak about Pak-China cooperation and CPEC,” he emphasised.

He mentioned that Pakistan’s exports to China increased by 35 percent after the inception of CPEC. He said CPEC helped Pakistan generate 8,000MW electricity which brought it out of energy crisis. He said cooperation in the field of education and cultural exchanges along with other fields is also increasing, and Pakistan stands as prime beneficiary of China’s inclusive development.

On the auspicious occasion of 73rd anniversary of establishment of Pak-China diplomatic relations, entertainment events like dance performance on Chinese song, performances on Pakistani regional languages and live performance by famous singer Rizwana Khan were organised for the audience who attended the event in large number. The audience particularly liked the live performance by famous Pakistani singer Sahir Ali Bagga who got huge applause and appreciation.

Ms. Du Jianing, Director China Media Group, thanked all the distinguished guests and audience for attending the event. She said more such events will be organised to further promote bilateral relationship between the two nations.
