Another committee set up to probe import of rotten wheat

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Industry and Production and National Food Security Rana Tanwer Hussain has taken note of irregularities in the procurement of wheat by PASSCO and public complaints.
The committee consists of three members under the leadership of Salim Mohsi, BPS 20 officer of the Ministry of Food. The board will investigate procurement of grain by PASSCO and look into public complaints of irregularities.
Federal Minister Rana Tanwer said that farmers cannot be exploited under any circumstances. “Relevant instructions have been issued by PASSCO to make grain procurement transparent. “All necessary measures are being taken to make grain procurement transparent,” he said.
The minister said that farmers and agriculture have an important role in the country’s prosperity and said that the country will be prosperous when farmers are happy.
In another development, federal minister Rana Tanwer Hussain received reports of wheat containing insects. Rana Tanwer formed a high-level research committee. The three-member committee will be headed by Food Commissioner Syed Wasim-ul-Hasan.
The investigation committee will conduct a transparent investigation involving insects in imported wheat. The Council will submit a comprehensive report on grain imports and non-conforming. An open investigation will be conducted to identify those responsible for the illegal importation of grain.
