Solar power, BESS, policy reforms in focus at Lahore conclave
LAHORE, Sept 23: Pakistan’s expanding solar energy sector, investment opportunities in solar photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), evolving net-metering policies and challenges facing the renewable energy industry will come under discussion at the 3rd International SolarPower Conclave & Solar Technology Excellence Awards 2026 in Lahore on September 24.
Organised by Energy Update, the conclave will bring together policymakers, government representatives, energy experts, solar industry leaders, technology providers, investors, consultants and other stakeholders to discuss changing dynamics of Pakistan’s energy sector and the growing role of solar power and energy storage in the country’s future energy mix.
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan will attend the event as chief guest. Senior representatives and professionals from the government, academia and private sector will also participate in discussions on policy, investment, technology and the future direction of Pakistan’s solar industry.
The event will feature two key panel discussions. The first, titled “Investment Opportunities in Solar PV and Battery Storage System (BESS),” will focus on investment potential in solar generation and energy storage, emerging business models, commercial and industrial applications, financing opportunities and the role of BESS in improving energy reliability and flexibility.
The second panel, “Solar in Pakistan – Challenges, Policy Reforms & the Way Forward,” will examine regulatory and policy issues, market developments, grid integration and the evolving framework for distributed generation and net metering.
Industry experts will also discuss possible policy reforms and pathways for sustainable growth of the solar market.
Technical sessions will focus on the latest solar technologies, battery energy storage systems, system efficiency, grid integration, energy management and technological developments shaping the next phase of Pakistan’s renewable energy transition.
Among the speakers and industry representatives scheduled to participate are Faizan Ali Shah, Advisor to Minister Energy (Power Division); Adil Mehmood, Chairman, Pakistan Solar Association; Mian Fahad, Regional Director, TBEA China; Muhammad Zakir Ali, CEO, Inverex Solar Energy; Dr Naveed Arshad, Director of the Energy Institute at LUMS; Zohaib ul Haq, Technical Service Manager, Growatt Pakistan; and Maroof Ahmed Zuberi, Energy Advisor and Head of Alternative Energy, HVAC and Firefighting Business at AESL.

The conclave will also host the Solar Technology Excellence Awards 2026 to recognise companies and professionals for their contributions to the development, deployment and advancement of solar energy technologies and solutions in Pakistan.
The organisers said the awards would recognise innovation, technological excellence and industry contributions across the country’s growing renewable energy ecosystem.
The conclave comes as the increasing adoption of distributed solar in Pakistan is generating greater discussion around grid management, regulation, investment and energy storage.
The event, being held under the theme “Solar PV, Net Metering & BESS: Powering Pakistan’s Next Energy Revolution,” is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange views and explore opportunities for a more reliable, sustainable and technology-driven energy sector.
