ISLAMABAD: Ministry of National Health Services has announced to set up a Stroke Center in Cardiology Department of PIMS Hospital for the treatment of heart-related strokes.
Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Health Dr Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath has termed the initiative a major breakthrough for potential stroke patients, adding that the Stroke Management Unit in the Cardiac Centre will prove beneficial in preventing permanent disability in stroke-affected patients. He also emphasized on the importance of timely intervention such as myocardial procedures and surgical procedures on arteries to prevent strokes.
Dr Mukhtar said approximately 2.591 billion rupees have been approved for the establishment of the Stroke Center. He further mentioned that the project is expected to be completed within six to eight months. The government is actively procuring all necessary equipment and resources for the treatment of stroke patients who have suffered from brain haemorrhage, he assured.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed highlighted that remarkable progress has been made not only in Islamabad but across Pakistan in the healthcare sector. Ensuring the introduction of modern equipment and the availability of highly skilled doctors and technical staff will be prioritized, he said. All citizens, regardless of their status, will benefit from modern and standardized facilities, he asserted.
