{"id":32599,"date":"2026-04-23T08:02:35","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T08:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globaltimes.com.pk\/?p=32599"},"modified":"2026-04-23T08:02:35","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T08:02:35","slug":"rs41-7bn-projects-planned-for-education-sector-reforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltimes.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/04\/23\/rs41-7bn-projects-planned-for-education-sector-reforms\/","title":{"rendered":"Rs41.7bn projects planned for education sector reforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD, Apr 23 (<a href=\"https:\/\/abc.net.pk\/rs41-7bn-projects-planned-for-education-sector-reforms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC<\/a>): The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has proposed a development budget exceeding Rs 41 billion under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2026-27 to reinforce education infrastructure, expand technical and vocational training, and sustain ongoing reforms.<br \/>\nAccording to documents available with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wealthpakistan.com.pk\/rs41-7bn-projects-planned-for-education-sector-reforms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wealth Pakistan<\/a>, the proposal details 23 projects\u201416 ongoing and 7 new\u2014demonstrating a sustained commitment to current programs and targeted expansion within the education sector.<br \/>\nFor ongoing projects, the ministry has projected a total demand of Rs 33.4 billion, with a foreign exchange component of Rs 400 million. Within this category, projects directly managed by the ministry account for Rs29.86 billion, while NAVTTC (National Vocational and Technical Training Commission) projects comprise Rs 3.56 billion.<br \/>\nIn addition, the ministry has proposed seven new projects worth over Rs 25 billion with a demand of Rs 8.28 billion for the financial year 2026-27. Most of these projects are currently at the submission stage before the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) for approval.<br \/>\nAmong the key initiatives is the establishment of a Danish School at Subatpur, with an estimated cost of Rs 2.31 billion and an allocation of Rs1.18 billion for FY27.<br \/>\nThe government has also planned a major project worth Rs 4.72 billion focusing on the institutionalisation of digital learning, learning management systems, and technology integration at the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), with Rs 732 million demanded for FY27.<br \/>\nAnother significant intervention includes the solarisation of 200 educational institutions under the FDE, Islamabad, with a cost of Rs482.82 million, with the same amount sought for FY27, reflecting a shift towards energy efficiency and sustainability in public schools.<br \/>\nThe ministry has further proposed Rs7.49 billion for the provision of basic educational facilities in FDE institutions under Phase-II, the largest allocation among the new projects. The ministry has sought Rs1.9 billion for the project during the coming fiscal year.<br \/>\nAdditionally, Rs1.08 billion has been earmarked for the upgradation of science laboratories \u2014 covering physics, chemistry, and biology \u2014 in 137 educational institutions in Islamabad. The ministry has demanded the same amount for the project in FY27.<br \/>\nIn a bid to expand technical education, a project worth Rs2.69 billion has been included for the rollout of Matric-Tech in all federal schools of Islamabad and its vertical integration with higher education at the intermediate level. The ministry has demanded Rs1.14 billion for the project in FY27.<br \/>\nThe PSDP-2026-27 also includes a major scholarship programme for Intertech and Matric-tech students, estimated at Rs6.5 billion, aimed at promoting technical education and supporting students financially.
