ISLAMABAD, Nov 02 (APP): China has disbursed an amount of $2 million for an economic and technical cooperation project in Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Foreign Economic Assistance Report issued by the Ministry of Economic Affairs available with Wealth Pakistan<\/a>, the project focuses on strengthening Pakistan\u2019s technical infrastructure, enhancing institutional linkages, and supporting ongoing development cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest disbursement reflects Beijing\u2019s ongoing financial commitment to Pakistan\u2019s provincial development and institutional capacity-building programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also underscores China\u2019s commitment to practical development initiatives under its bilateral framework with Pakistan, extending beyond the major infrastructure ventures linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During September 2025, China\u2019s total disbursements to Pakistan amounted to approximately $2 million, while cumulative Chinese assistance for the first quarter (July\u2013September) of FY2025\u201326 reached $9.75 million, combining both grants and loans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the Punjab project, China continued to fund key reconstruction and rehabilitation initiatives across multiple regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These included reconstruction of fully damaged schools in Bara District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ($4.47 million), construction of houses in Balochistan ($6 million), and establishment of New Generation Geodetic Datum of Pakistan ($1.08 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China also remains engaged in several large-scale projects of national significance, such as the Relocation of Karakoram Highway (Thakot\u2013Raikot section), the establishment of Pakistan Space Centre (SUPARCO), and the China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre on Earth Sciences at Quaid-e-Azam University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These initiatives are part of a broader development partnership designed to modernize Pakistan\u2019s infrastructure and scientific capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, China\u2019s contribution to Pakistan\u2019s financial stability extends beyond project aid. The country continues to maintain a SAFE China Deposit of $4 billion, which is a crucial component of Pakistan\u2019s external financing structure that supports macroeconomic stability and balance of payments management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest disbursement for Punjab\u2019s Economic and Technical Cooperation Project highlights Beijing\u2019s diversified development engagement, reflecting its dual role in both grassroots technical collaboration and large-scale economic projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
